December 2008 To Whom It May Concern: In the summer of 2002, I was given a present, by my brother, to attend a Tai Chi Gung class taught by Mr. Roosevelt Gainey. You see, as a result of 9/11, I was suffering from post traumatic stress syndrome. It affected my nerves; blood pressure and heart rate. It also interfered with my golf game, my running and most activities that I enjoyed because I was also getting panic attacks. As a result, my doctor placed me on three types of medication. The very first class, I was taught how to breathe and walk and subsequently, taught how to circle walk. I began to feel relief but had no idea of the benefits that I would sustain by continuing to do this breath, energy work, and circle walking on a daily basis. Mr. Gainey, a very patient teacher, gave me and others more than just lip service but helped us to understand the principals that enabled our bodies to heal, regenerate and flourish In 2004, my doctor took me off the last of my medication for blood pressure. The panic attacks are gone and I am confident, relaxed and can eliminate stress whenever it raises its ugly face. In addition, my golf game is strong, my energy level is extremely high, I know how to maximize my running, and my writing has returned. Sincerely,
Sharia Jones-Bey
